Greetings All

Need advice from someone who may have done this.

I have to do a complete tear down of my rig to replace the water block on my i7 920 sitting in my RIIE MB plus do water cooling maintenance.

I have 2 xfired 1G 4870's installed.

If I were to replace the 4870's with 6970's plus new water blocks would I get a graphics 'WOW' factor that would justify the roughly $1000 cost? I'm thinking not but then I just read the article on Crysis 2 with Direct 11 X.

Any thoughts?

DX11 features will wow you to a certain extent, and the efficiency of the newer cards in terms of power and heat will make you alot happier. You should already be used to good performance with the 4870x2, but the performance boost you would get will last you years. It's either upgrade now, or wait for the 28nm cards to come out, which is what i would suggest; they are right around the corner. The crysis 2 DX11 patch is nice to look at, but isnt jaw dropping compared to the DX9 version. there are a few new cool things and such, but overall its the same game with some polish
