Aloha all:

Let's say there's a 5-piece band that needs approx. 16 channels to mic/DI everything up. If someone used splitter cables on each mic (one half going to the soundman/snake, the other going to a separate mixer, which then went to a Pro Tools-equipped laptop), what would happen? Noise/buzz? Loss of signal strength? Soundman and recording engineer both happy?

I'm curious if anyone can shed some light on this scenario, any insider tips, dos/don'ts, etc.
