Upgrading system

Hi ppl,

Here is my current build:

Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition 3.2ghz
ECS A790GXM-AD3
Sapphire HD5750
8 gig DDR3 1333 mhz Kingston
CM Extreme Power 600w
Windows 7 64bit

I want to upgrade the cpu, motherboard and graphics card with these components:

Intel Core i5 2500k 3.3ghz
ASUS P8P67 INTEL P67
SAPPHIRE FleX HD6870 1GB

Will the current power supply be able to handle the new components? if not would this be a good replacement Antec TP new - 650 watt

Many Thanks

  1. Your PSU should be ok. The 6870 recommends a 500w PSU.

The Antec TP would be a great PSU though if you can afford it. CoolerMaster PSU's have been known to be slightly "questionable" in terms of their performance.
  2. I wouldn't go with Intel. You can get similar perfomance by

    a)Replace your Phenom II X2 with a Phenom II X4 955

    AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ955FBGMBOX

b)Overclock it to 3,7 - 4,0 GHz. You will need a good heatsink of course

Scythe SCMG-3000 120mm Heat Pipe CPU Cooler

    c)Get a 6870

PowerColor AX6870 1GBD5-2DH Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
