how do I flash it to a higher version??? A detailed step by step would be greatly appreciated

You have to go to the home page for your board and see if there is a newer bios for your board, most of the manufacturers have a step by step guide that shows you how to do it, just make sure that there is not a power cut between flushing the old bios and installing the new one.
