Do I need GTX560 Ti if I want only 1280x960?

Hey guys, I am not interested in playing in HD. But I do want to play the latest games, especially the upcoming BF3. If 1280x960 is sufficient for me, do I need good graphics card, or say GT430 will suffice? (with AA and high settings)

Because I thought I'd still need good cards and thought of GTX560Ti, but I'm surprised to learn at Nvidia's website http://www.nvidia.com/content/HelpMeChoose/fx2/HelpMeChoose.asp?lang=en-us if I select only "I want to play latest game" and not the "play HD resolution games", Nvidia approves of cheaper cards, even the GT 430!

Can I save my $ then and get a much older card?

If BF3 is anything like this, you should get a little better performance out of it than the listed 1280x1024 which would still probably be under 30fps.

Now if you compare this to the 560 ti with the same title:

The 560 ti will keep you well above the 60fps mark at that resolution with some details turned up. I say go for the 560 ti.

What's the rest of your system look like?

Ouch... Silly of me to ask without looking up 430 first XD. That card looks certainly incapable of BF3.

But, is it true that GTX560Ti is meant for those OCing, as I don't plan to. Should I be getting GTX560 only then?

I'll get X4 955, and SLI ready mobo.

At a lower resoultion like 1280x960 the CPU is doing mostly all of the work which is why you can get a leser card.I would suggest sticking with one of 6xxx series cards from AMD or one of the GTX5xx series from Nvidia.BF3 is going to be DX11 and those cards do much better with DX11.I would reccomend going with the GTX560ti or the GTX560.

I think not. I don't have a monitor nor PC now =D gonna buy after this when I get inputs from you guys

If you plan on getting a 1080p monitor in the future I suggest not getting anything below the 6870.You can manage a single GPU and max out games for now and then when you upgrade to a 1080p monitor you SLI/Crossfire.Should be able to max them out again,whenever you decide to upgrade.
