I am going to start my first build and I will have 2 6950's crossfired they are each dual 6 pin cards. The question I have is do I need a power supply with 4ea 6pin connectors or one with just 2 connectors? I see many supplies labled crossfire ready or crossfire certified and they only have 2ea 6pin connectors do they all have splitters on the ends or something?

The easy answer is yeah, you'll need 4x 6pin or 6+2 pin.

Keep in mind not all cards require 2x of each so there are sli/crossfire psu's that can claim certified or ready that only have 2. For posterity sake it should be noted that there are molex to pci-e converters but really, just stick with the easy answer.

most PSU that only come with 2x PCI-E power connectors and SLI/CF certified (they tend to be 500w-650w) are for lower to mid level cards.

although you could use molex connectors, I would advise a PSU with 4 x PCI-E power connectors (they can be 6pin or 6+2, or any combo of the two) with at least 55a on the 12v rail (usually 700w+) for your set up.
