Cable is getting too expensive and I've downloaded plenty of media already.
I'm looking into building a small, cheap computer to put in my entertainment center and then have it access the files on my desktop wirelessly using XBMC.
My current network is pretty dated. When I try to stream to my laptop is get's hung up and skips.

My main question is: Would upgrading everything to Wireless N be sufficient in getting flawless streaming?

Any input at all concerning any of my plan would be greatly appreciated, especially from people who have done something similar.

I would upgrade to N-network.

I had to, too, since at 54Mb it was lagging to much. 100Mb was the min speed I needed to stream video acceptable
