So, I'm new to this site, but I came here a lot when I was searching the Internet for info on the rig I was building. And since my rig is pretty new, not even a couple months old, I just wanted to see what people's thoughts on it were. I warn you now, yes, many things were probably overkill. And probably over priced. But I recently got a new job out of college and DESPERATELY needed a new computer, and so I said "Screw it, go big or go home." Plus I wanted this rig to run Skyrim and Battlefield 3 on high settings, as well as last for a while. But feel free to comment on what I wasted my time/money on or if I made some good choices.

And no, I currently do not have any water cooling. I was going to, but once I put it together, I have low temps. CPU doesn't get above 40C, even under load. BUT, I have not had the time to OC anything yet. And there is plenty of room for that and I intend to once I get the time to. Thanks!
Haha, thanks Yeah, I wanna OC the cards more than anything when I get a chance. It's a pity the cards aren't referrence, otherwise I could flash them to 6970's and get a good performance boost out of them. I missed out and got them too late. My buddy has the same video card setup but his are the referrenced ones, lucky bastard. And he won't even flash them! Lol. Cause you know, 133 fps makes a huge difference over 110
Yeah Sqrl, I realized after buying it and putting it together that it was last gen and on its way out. But I was also sold on the motherboard, which was compatible with the 970, so I just went with it. So I realize I probably spent a little too much on those two parts, but oh well. I just really wanted the luxery of 6 cores, haha. The new i7's are really good though, and definitely a lot cheaper, or as you said the i5-2500K which can be OC'd a ton and perform very well. Win some, lose some. I could've got the 990x and paid double what I already paid on my 970, haha.
