What happened to private messages

Hey Jake, or Justin,
Im liking most of the new things you guys are doing with the site.
Is it just me or did you guy take away the spot at the top of the page that tells of a private message.
I always thought that was a pretty good spot for it as it caught my eye when there was one.

The new buttons at the top are cool but I woudnt mind seeing that come back in some fashion,
possibly as a blinking icon inserted amongst the others (when a message is in) or something similar.
Maybe even on the right side by the feedback flag.

They now appear on the right side. However, I agree with you that this isn't ideal. I am going to work to get it highlighted more if you have new PMs.

EDIT: I found it. I never run with the right column visable.
So you are right it isnt ideal.

Okay. I'm an idiot. Or at least new. I can't figure out how to SEND a private message. I see how to receive and read one, but not how to send one. Please send answer to SamuelBJ.

You can send a PM by clicking "Send a new message" at the top of this page: http://www.tomshardware.com/community/pm

Alternatively, you can click the red mail icon under a person's avatar in any thread.

Additionally, it is worth noting that you have to have posted something in the forum (a reply or a new thread) before you are flagged as able to send a private message. It's a spam prevention feature we've implemented to keep users from being bombarded by IMs.
