I already have a 600w PSU. What is the best CPU and GPU that I can upgrade to for gaming with my existing motherboard?
My motherboard is a MCP61PM-HM (Nettle 3)
Thanks for any and all input.
I appreciate the help.
The PSU brand name I cannot remember. This is actually my gfs computer i'm trying to upgrade so we can play SWTOR. I know the list of possible CPUs will be limited and we probably won't get any GPU like a Radeon 6870 but something that will be a decent upgrade with the CPU of at least 2.8 Ghz. Plus the card that will provide decent graphics to game with but won't be so much that it is overkill and gets wasted. So would a 6670 or 6770 be able to go with this package or would it be too much?
The psu is the heart of a pc, dont take it lightly, well you can get the 6670 because it uses lees power and a non branded psu can handle it.
but 6770 raises some doubt's, as stated, where's your budget
9 times out of 10 a non-branding power supply will perform to the same level as a branded one. Many are built on the exact same factory floor and are only split up later when companies buy them and re-brand as their own.
I know that a 6870 requires a 500w, the 6770 a 450w and the 6670 a 400w. But I am really more interested in finding a CPU to match with the motherboard and then finding and deciding on a GPU that will give the best graphics that will work with them. Budget can be determined after I know what it is that I need to be looking for with a new CPU and how much of GPU they can handle.
