I'm considering upgrading the cpu on an old p965 mb and was wondering how much of a performance increase I will see by swapping an E6600 for an X6800. Thanks in advance.

hence x6800 is quad-core so your performance should be better half of an e6600.

The X6800 is not a quad core. The QX6800 is. For the QX I would need to update the bios though.

x6800 is better than e6600 because core 2 exreme are advancer than core 2 duo.
