Hello, I recently received a Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 512 mb graphics card but when I turned on my pc after installing it, no display came up. My pc is very old, I think I got it in 2005. I will try and list some specs but I'm a big noob when it comes to building computers so I'm terribly sorry if I miss a lot.
So I realize I probably have to upgrade some parts, luckily my friend said I could buy an
Intel Core i5 and an Asus P7H55M Pro motherboard (from my understanding it should fit, atx 9.6" x 9.6") off him. So I'm wondering if that is a good idea and if that will allow me to use my new graphics card.
Again I'm really sorry for this convoluted and nooby post but I'll be very grateful if anyone can help.
Your motherboard is a 1.x which sometimes has trouble accepting 2.1 pci-e cards ; this especially true for anything older than 2008. Oems also do not update motherboards cause it costs money ,so there will not be an update that would allow for 2.1 card.If you where to install the new motherboard you would need a new hard drive so transfer anything you need.
