They perform about the same at 1920x1080 with the GTX 560 Ti being cheaper.

nvidia has better drivers.

One thing to consider is if you ever decide to game at 2560x1600(2560x1440) or with multiple monitors. The HD 6950 2GB would be the better choice in that case (assuming your crossfire since a single card won't cut it above 1080p).

go for 6950 as it performs better than gtx 560 ti
but if you want physx then go for gtx 560 ti there is only 2-5 fps difference between the two!

Compared to the HD 6950 the 560 Ti is about 3% slower but costs 12-20% less even compared to the 1GB model. It is a much better buy.

Check the benchmarks of all the [types of] games you want to play. Consider whether or not you will want or need PhysX.
One of my games is Civilization V, for which the GTX560Ti was the clear choice. I saw for many other games that the HD6950 would have been stronger; they trade a lot.
The GTX560Ti is also a little cooler and a little quieter, but that could vary a lot based on whose card you buy.

I agree to what you said.. but a 6950 will easily unlock to 6970 now the performance is more for 6950 than 560ti and the extra price you pay is used so if I am in your plaace I will go for 6950

If he's willing to go through the hassle of unlocking the shaders (unlocking the RAM is fail), then he should be willing to overclock the 560 Ti. The 560 Ti overclocks much better than the 6950 and can be clocked faster than the 6970.

You can get 6970 performance with both cards. The 560 Ti is still significantly cheaper.

Then compare overclocked 6970 and 560ti
The 6970 which is shown here is stock

The 6970 and AMD cards in general don't overclock very well:

As we can see the 6970 is pretty much maxed out.

So you only proved with these two images that an oc 6970 performs better than 560ti and 6950 unlocks to 6970 and performs better in many games.. but 560ti wins in physx games that is what I told op if he wants to go physx way then he can get 560ti else 6950 will be a better option
I am an Nvidia fan but I very much liked 6950 and did some gaming and unlocking stuffs on my friend's pc the performance boost was very much unbelievable..

No, the overclocked 6970 has the same fps as the overclocked 560 Ti. I showed that even if you were to unlock the 6950 and clocked it to 6970 levels (which might not even be the case), the 560 Ti can also be clocked to 6970 levels without the hassle of flashing BIOS.

besides that you are looking at the oc performance in one crappy game, your assessment should be done across a variety of games, the cards are more or less equal, personally I'd go with the gtx 560ti for the better drivers and quiet and cool performance.

yeah both are great choices really, personally I prefer the green teams drivers and advanced AA capabilities for older games, TF2 looks awesome with 32XCSAA on my gtx 570, not that the card has the muscle to do that on today's demanding game but since I still play a few older ones it is a cool feature imo, as far as physX goes, I could honestly care less about it although it does look cool/ add a lot in games such as mafia II and batman AA but other than that its not a reason to buy nvidia imo.

the way that mjsharma breaks it down for those models, the 6950 is the better buy but also consider noise and heat, which in my experience the amd 6 series is consistently louder (esp with ramped up fan) then the nvidia 5 series. OP: the choice is up to you, either way you can't go wrong imo

You are right Nvidia 5 series produces less heat
but noice will depend more on the card manufacturer.
OP: both are good cards if you want more features then go with Nvidia otherwise 6950 will be a better option

The stock HD 6970 beats the stock GTX 560 Ti (and stock HD 6950). This isn't the point. You tried to assert that one advantage the HD 6950 has over the 560 Ti is it's ability to be flashed and clock to 6970 levels which is not true since an overclocked 560 Ti can also be clocked to 6970 levels.

I don't know how much clearer I can make it. Please don't respond if you don't understand what I said:
Both the HD 6950 and GTX 560 Ti can be clocked/modded to match the 6970.

But these useless benchmarks comparing the stock 560 Ti to a 6970 are so pretty!

the 6950 is just 214$ after mail in rebate but gtx 560ti is 239 $ and that 6950 unlocks to 6970 which is 300$ +

Did you not read your own links? You didn't even pick the cheapest 560 Ti OTD and it's still cheaper than the 6950 1GB. The 560 Ti is $227 shipped with a $20 rebate while the 6950 is $250 shipped with a $30 rebate. Last time I checked $250 > $227 and $220 > $207.

This EVGA 560 Ti is $230 shipped with a $25 mail in rebate.
