My money is on the 6870. They should be very close in performance, but the 6870 is cheaper and more power efficient.

Plus the 6 series AMD cards do better in crossfire than 5 series Nvidia cards in SLI if u ever got a second one.

No, scaling is like 95% for nvidia:

Unless it's the worst PSU in the world it'll easily power either card. Unless you're actually planning to SLi or CF it doesn't really matter what your motherboard is...

We don't even know your resolution so both of these cards might be overkill.

I'm not sure about this specific card but as far as I know none of the 560s or 6870s are too loud. The 560s run cooler than the 6870s.

For the combined tests of 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 at 0x and 4x anti-aliasing the GTX 560 non-Ti is 1% faster than the 6870, 17% faster than the 460, and 12% slower than the 560 Ti. The most relevant test is the 1920x1080 at 4x.

The conclusion also includes information not in the test though it's under the assumption it costs $200 (it did at the time).

If the HD 6870 is cheaper then get that, the graph shows the GTX 560 has nearly no gain (1%) over the HD 6870 and uses a lot more power.

well i personally like the gtx 560 band as far as i know it runs cooler and quieter than the 6870 plus i have a sli mobo so i could sli in the future if i need to. My power supply is a 600w that runs at 40amps so i dont think that it really matter that it uses alittle bit more power than the 6870

The 560 uses slightly more power than the 6870 at load but it runs significantly cooler. We already pay for cooling so it's definitely a worthwhile tradeoff.

Plus for $170 you aren't finding a better deal.
