Why desktop go off and on

lots of reasons. high temps being the usual culprit... then if temps aint the issue we look at hardware. things like bad memory or a bad power supply. if they check out you then start looking at the motherboard to check for swollen or otherwise damaged capacitors and other components. and then gfx and cpu...

so start measuring your temps first. make sure the innards of the pc are dust free as this can be enough to send your temps through the roof and throttle the cpu or cause a shut down.

if all is well then run a mem test. prime95 blend test is pretty good for this as is superpi 32m. again if it passes move on to the next...

psu should be tested in another pc if you can. if that pc shuts off as yours does then you found the issue.

motherboard diag is hard to do unless you have another cpu handy so just give it a good look over for damage and dust.

gfx and cpu should be tested 1 at a time in another pc...
failing that you can run benches like furmark that will stress the gpu and memory to the point that if its gonna fail it pretty much will.

hi,
first check... your ram, is it attached to motherboard properly or not?
second... check your whole system for virus(antivirus scan).

and tell me is it working or not..after that i'll tell you other solutions.
