Hello, i will be using multiple software applications such as adobe, web browsers, and downloads and uploads at same time. which cpu would work out the best for my situation. i have been looking at the AMD 3.1 GHZ 8 core. remember this is strictly for work and not gaming. Thanks

What is your budget? The amd bulldozer 8 core sucks in benchmarks and won't work for you. I suggest something like an i7-2600k, or an i7-3930k or an i5-2500k.

That would be a good option. But do you do anything like 3d applications on your 2600k machine?

in rendering/ modeling? no. ALOT of adobe products mostly open at same time. i know only some software will take advantage of the hyper threads

Then i would put the 2600k into work machine, and 2500k into gaming. You shouldn't know the difference :)
