Sorry if in wrong category i got confused lol

So im looking to upgrade something in my rig and i obviously want to upgrade the worst component. I'm not gonna get a better graphics card if my cpu is gonna bottleneck it if you know what i mean ;)

Here are the specs:

J&W JW-A780LM AM3 mobo
AMD Athlon II x2 250 3.0Ghz @ 3.51Ghz
2x2GB DDR2 800 memory
Gainward GTS 450 GS(Golden Sample)

What do you guys think i should upgrade? I'm maybe thinking my cpu to a Phenom II x4 955 but there's also an idea to get a new mobo with 8GB(2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz memory... Any suggestions??

BTW I'm mainly using my pc for gaming and i'm playing on a 1920x1080 22" monitor

THAT'S super helpful. If the OP was building a new rig, he would've asked for build advice.

Johan, your system is nicely balanced - it'll play 2010 games and older pretty well. There are only 7 games or so that came out this year that demand a quad-core to play at decent fps.

I'm not planning on playing any of those except eventually Crysis 2, but I want better fps in my current games, so I'm getting an HD 6870 with my Xmas cash and putting off upgrading to a Phenom II X4. (Our builds are similar)

It really depends what games you want to play. Grab a Phenom if you want to play games like Witcher 2, Deus Ex, and Skyrim at decent settings and fps, or get an HD 6870/GTX...

don't need to upgrade anything

if you wanted to see things load real fast, get an SSD drive, but they are expensive.

Maybe you could upgrade your CPU, sell your x2 for 30 pounds, use that money to fund a 955.

Can your mobo take ddr3 memory ?

No game has ever been released that had minimum requirements of a quad core.

Also, does his mobo take 95w or 125 CPUs ?

No it doesn't support DDR3, it has 2 DDR2 slots, also it says on the mobo's website it supports Phenom II but only 95w max'

Forgot to mention, i like playing all kinds of games but i get a lot of lag when playing Supreme commander over lan when there's a lot of units on the map, and i'm currently playing Anno 2070 and Saints Row The Third which i would like to have a little more fps in :)
