Can I use a CPU w/ a 2mb cache instead of a 1mb cache?

I am looking to purchase a new CPU for my intel board. I have an ancient intel 865PERL board. The manufacturer recommends a L2 1mb cache CPU. I could only find a L2 2mb cache CPU dual core. Is it okay to go higher? Will the board and CPU have compatibility issues? Please help. Thanks
