Hi guys,

I have the Vengeance 8GB 1600-mhz RAM, it says that it is highly overclockable.

So I reduced the timings to 7-7-7-21 in both channels.

But when I check with CPU-Z it says that the timings are 9-9-9-24 while the BIOS says that the timings are 7-7-7-21.

No idea which one to believe, help would be much appreciated.

Don't self bump. Some mods will delete your post for that.

What is the rest of your system? No matter what the motherboard manufacturer says the memory controller is on the CPU in all current generation Intel and AMD CPUs. So overclocking the RAM is actually overclocking the CPU ( the integrated memory controller part anyway ). This can cause problems. Especially trying to run very low cas latency.

The good news is that with the integrated memory controller very high speed or very low cas RAM is no longer necessary. There is a 1% or less gain in cerain apps and in gaming the gain is 0. 1.5v DDR3 1600 cas 9-9-9-24 2T is the sweet spot.

My advice is to run the sticks at their rated voltage, speed and timings.
