Solution

Nope, it's completely separate.

listen dude i have i5 2500k i can give you best advice without a gpu pc scuks in gaming as i have no gpu right now so i am not able to play games on good high settings it is runing cod on 20-25 fps on all extra settings with 1280 * 720 but a gpu is gpu you dont need to care about the integrated gpu they actually sucks and gtx 560ti can give you 40+fps on 1080p so no comparion between gpu and ipgu

Do you have the intel hd graphics 2000 or 3000 on your 2500k?

If it matters I have the 2000 on my i3-2100, they are decent for 1080p movies, but not gaming. I could run COD4 @ 1280x720 everything off and turned down at 60Fps depending on the multiplayer map.

The Intel® Core™ i5-2500K and its Intel HD 3000 Graphics are not bad but they arent the graphics that you want to be counting on for gaming. They will work fine for watching a movie, doing most of the work that you would do on your computer except for gaming and heavy multi-media editing/creation work. On a game that has been optimized for them like Starcraft 2 you might get low 30 FPS performance out of the IGP (Integraded Graphics on processor) but to compare that to a solid video card like the nVidia GTX 560TI isn't even close.

All Sandy Bridge Core i3 ending with the number "5" has the Intel HD 3000 graphics core. They limited overclocking potential.

All mobile Sandy Bridge Core i3/i5/i7 have the Intel HD 3000 graphics core.
