Matching Brands necessary for CrossFireX?

Hey there forum,

I am about to attempt ATI Radeon CrossFireX with my ATI 1GB 6870 but I have got a little problem. My current card is of HIS model but the local stores only sell Gigabyte or XFX model 6870s. Is that important? The card specifications are the same, sizes are the same and they look physically the same but they have been made and boxed by different companies. Will I get the same performance out of my CrossFireX system?

yep you will get the same performance, you can use different brands whilst crossfiring.

Oh alright, sweet!
I have a choice between Gigabyte, Sapphire and XFX for the second card, then. Is one of those better than the others or should I just go with the cheapest (Sapphire)?

Pick the cheapest, if they are stock models you won't see any difference.

My choice for ATI cards is XFX for the build quality and the lifetime warranty.

Ok, cool! I think I will end up going with Sapphire though, both for price and the fact that I wouldn't have to drive all across town to get it. I will definitely be getting an XFX for my next card(s) though.
