Problem With My ATI 4830

So recently I bought an ATI 4830 512mb. However I'm not getting the performance that it should have. So what's the problem?
Here's my specs:

AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual core 5200+ 2.6 ghz
3 GB DDR2 Ram
500W cooler master power supply
320 GB hard drive
ATI 4830 512 MB

I get around 20-40 fps in a game of Combat Arms
and 25-40 in team fortress 2

That's a pretty old card, but should be able to play those games at lower resolutions. What resolution are you running it at? Also, the 4830 is a pretty good OC'er, you should be able to overclock it and get a little better performance out of it, at least up to the HD4850 speeds.

It depends on your definition. My 4850 is 4 years old or so and I consider that old. For that matter, I consider most electronics old at 2 years of age.

My 8800GT is also 4 years old but can still run games @19 x 10 with playable framerates that's why I don't consider it to be 'old', if it were no longer usable as a gaming card then I would consider it old and useless.

Like I said, it depends on your definition and I didn't equate old to being useless. I still use my 4850 because it plays most everything at 1280x1024 which is the native resolution of my lcd monitor. This is why I asked the OP what resolution he uses.

At 12 x 10 that GPU is probably being underutilised, 16 x 10 would probably suit it better maybe even 19 x 10.
