Graphics Card Memory

I was just wondering if the memory on a graphics card had to match the computers memory. A lot of the graphics cards i see are DDR3 and i have DDR2. Does the memory have to be the same in order to be compatible?

No it doesn't.Graphics card memory is totally seperate and different from a computer's memory.

When your looking for a graphis card try getting the one that has the highest RAM.Currently the highest RAM is GDDR5.
  2. Nope. It is independent.

Otherwise a lot of people would be in trouble since there is no such thing as DDR5 system RAM.
