Phenom X4 970 - is 39c idling problematic?

Hey,

I just installed my cpu and stock heatsink, but i reapplied the heatsink a few times, and the pre-applied thermal paste may have been spread too thin. does that explain why my cpu is running at 39C idle? or is that normal for this model? the reviews at newegg stated much lower idling temps with the stock fan, around 30 . what should i do?

What are the load temps like please try to load the CPU using prime95 ? The idle temps will vary by cpu cooler and case ventilation.

what is room temp also?

39c in a 78F room isnt bad for example

it is all relevant to room temperature
