I just got the ge force 580. I uninstalled the old video drivers and did as the instructions said with removal and install of new video card. Im not getting any screen. not sure if power supply wiring was done correctly with either the six pin or eight pin harness. need help.

do you know if your power supply meets the requirements for a 580? that card draws a lot of power--both in watts and in amps

Youre about 99% chance correct on the power supply. I wish you'd have told us what PSU you had so we could better help... but I've seen this before where the card will turn on but not actually produce.

it needs BOTH the 6pin and 8 pin. Most newer power supplys will have a 6pin with a 2pin attached to it... that functions as the 8pin.

You need both, as well as lots of power. The 580 should be on it's own set of wires. not sharing power on the same rail as anything else!
