I am planning on switching over to SCSI soon. I have been looking around at the different drives, but I can't decide. I want the ABSOLUTE best SCSI drive, (not any higher than 40GB). So about 20-40GB range.

Thanks
(I am willing to pay any amount. Also, I need a good controller card and have heard that the adaptec ones are good. Should I go for one?)

I'd read some of the reviews at <A HREF="http://www.storagereview.com" target="_new">http://www.storagereview.com</A>.

The Seagate Cheetah 15K RPM is the fastest. I don't know how it stacks up, reliability wise, with the IBM ultrastars or the Quantum Atlas drives. Those are probably the three brands to check out though.

The Adaptec cards are very reliable - you will not have any problems with them. (my first 2940 UW from four years ago is still in service, which is pretty darn good in computer years :)

Ok then, I will go with Adaptec (those were my initial thoughts.)

Yoda, I was kind of leaning towards the 15k, but the only problem is they're highest capacity is only 18GB. I'm looking for something a little bigger. (I have a lot of junk, )

Yes, i think an Adaptec controler card and the Quantum Atlas 10K II drives are the best combination.

Adaptec is both overrated and overpriced. From both personal and professional experience, they are crap. You will be better off using a Symbios based controller. The are cheapers and definately more reliable.

As far as drives, Quantum, IBM and Seagate all make good quality SCSI drives.
