Hey there I'm here to ask whether or not my system can handle the GTX 480.

Here are my specs: Ram 8GB, AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE 3.4GHZ GTX 260, 500 Watts PSU.

nvidia website says 600w psu for gtx 480 though its also about the amps on the 12v rails as well--is it a good quality psu? as theres a big difference between a cheap 600w and a good 600w like corsair etc

why not a gtx 570 as its essentially a newer 480 but cooler-quieter and needs less wattage--nvidia website says 550w

minimum psu requirements obviously include all your other components taken in to consideration--not saying you cant run it on a 500w but the psu is the most important part of your pc and a quality psu is a must as far as i am concerned

PSU definately may be an issue... I have the same system you described above but with a OCZ 700watt PSU. Its also not just the watts, if your PSU is older it may not have all the required connections... i dont remember what connections the GTX260 required but it may be different than the 480.

Also dont forget to consider your case size. Mine was a superclocked with upgraded/bigger cooling unit and it barely fit in my Raidmax Quantum case (which is one of hte bigger mid-towers on the market)
