Building My Own PC

Hello all!

I'm looking to build my own pc that would maximize my ability to edit and save photos in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. I really don't know quite what I need, because all I know is that my mac laptop just isn't cutting it...it's WAY to slow....but I'm looking to spend under $1000.

If someone could recommend components for building a pc , and what those components do, that would be great! I've been looking around at barebones kits, but I don't quite understand all of it.
