Hi !

I have a new Lenovo Y580 (i73610QM, GTX660M) that currently has 8Gb installed memory.
I want to upgrade this to 16Gb (2X8GB).
Now I have several options to choose from and I am not sure if i should choose a 1333 MHz or 1600 MHz (both are compatible with the processor) cause I read somewhere that the 1333 is enough for modern laptop processors ! The price difference is significant (around 50 USD or more in some cases). I have some options here (links to amazon uk). I primarily use the laptop for data, photoshop and blender (rendering and 3d design)

16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz SODIMM 204-Pin Laptop Memory 9-9-9-25 (£88.00)

Komputerbay 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz SODIMM 204-Pin Laptop Memory 10-10-10-27(£52.99 )

(The Komputerbay models are both 1600 but the differ in the latency !)
Thanks !

I would check with Lenovo to see if those memory modules are compatible with your unit. I checked on Crucial website and they did not list any 8Gb modules for your unit.

Thanks man ! I did check with other users on the Lenovo forum and its fine to upgrade to a 2 x 8gb ! (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-and-Z-series/...)
Crucial does not have them but other so.
I have to choose between the two Komputerbay models (both are 1666 but the latency is different and so is the price !comments?

Can't find any information on Komputerbay memory, like who makes the chips, where they are made, and no reviews. Looks like generic memory! To bad you can't buy from Newegg it would cost $94.99 USD or 4.26 pounds.
