Will this Power Supply work with my computer? How can I tell?

Trying to get a new power supply for my HP Computer so i can upgrade the video card..

the computer in question is HP Pavilion p6653w Desktop PC.

Im trying to figure out the connections the stock power supply will have so i wont waste money on a power supply that wont work.

Thanks in advance for any help

  1. you will definatly want a new psu, from what ive found, it only has a 250 watt psu, which is far from good, any 6*** series card requires atleast 400 watts
  2. what video card are you gitting and what is your budget for power supply?

Um, he does need a PSU upgrade for a powerful card, but a HD 6450, HD 6570, HD 6670, HD 6750, HD 6770 or a HD 6850 only need a quality 360-380W PSU to run.

I know he does I was asking what his budget was for the PSU so i could look and see what i could find that would work for what ever GPU he needed.
  5. Honestly i havnt even looked at a video card yet. I just baught Star wars the old republic and it has horrible FPS on this computer. So probably something that i can play on medium settings.

And budget for PSU is probably about 75-100 bucks

I'd look for a semi-modular psu for ease of installation into an oem case.
500-600W will run most gfx cards no problem.
