Hello,
Does anyone know how or where to obtain GPU's and processors for laptops other than purchasing faulty items?

You can't just buy any GPU or CPU for a laptop.

Most laptop's don't even support upgrading, yes the CPU and GPU may be detachable from the motherboard but the cooler inside the laptop is unlikely to be able to cope with the newer hardware.

Plus you need to think about compatibility, almost all laptop motherboards only support the specific CPU and GPU first installed on it. :(

Why would you consider purchasing faulty items?

Are you planning to upgrade your laptop or do you need to replace components that are defective?

As was noted, there isn't really many options to upgrade laptops, but sometimes there may be a newer generation processor that has a lower TDW than an older and that is pin-compatible. Then you can consider it.

GPUs for laptops are usually much more customized and again, it is unlikely that you wil find an upgrade that can be installed. If you need one, I'd search newegg, Amazon, Tiger, Direct, Micro Center, the manufacturer's website and then lastly Google for the relevant parts.
