Here's a budget build i put together, made it to be future-proof and able to play most any game at mid-high settings. Can be upgraded for RAID and Crossfire, as well as being AM3+ for future bulldozer upgrades. What do you think?

More about future proof budget build
  1. Change the PSU with a Corsair CX500. Costs $10 less and handle even HD 6850 crossfire. Other parts are fine. :)
  2. Wait a month (hopefully) for bulldozer to come out. Save yourself 100 dollars

how would that save me $100? wouldn't bulldozer cost more? i mean i know the performance would be exceptionally better but this cpu is more then enough for most anything i would want to do with it, and later on if i wanted more power i could upgrade.
  4. This motherboard
    ASRock 970 EXTREME4 AM3+ AMD 970 $110

    can crossfire at x8/x8 [ same a s a sandy bridge]

and saves you $35 which you can spend upgrading the graphics card to a 6850

Some websites are reporting the BD X6 processor should be around $175 , but I havent seen a price on the X4's yet
  5. It'll save you money because you wont HAVE to upgrade later.

true enough... i guess that makes more sense, when are they supposed to be coming out?
  7. they were supossed to go out months ago, and then they leaked that they would be out this 17 so we dont really know.
