So here is my question... I can't decide whether to get one 6990 card or a 2x6970's in crossfire. I will be running these on an ASRock 3xtreme4 mobo most likely. initially I will be running one monitor, but soon after everything is up and running on my new build I want to go ahead and run three monitors in eyefinity. I will be playing games like Call of Duty series and Battlefield 3 when it comes out. What is your thoughts on this?

The single 6990 has 4GB RAM. When you CrossFireX, (I think) you only access the video memory from one card. Effectively, even in 6970 CrossFire, you only get to use 2GB VRAM. Somebody correct me if I am wrong but otherwise you are better off with a single 6990 as it will give you more RAM and greater processing.

As a general rule of thumb, one good card will beat two lesser ones.

A 6990 4GB card is the same as two 6970 2GB cards in crossfire, but placed on 1 card, except that the 6990 has been downclocked and is a lot noisier as well.
