AMD vs Nvidia Technologies

From what i'v seen the two companies make very similar GPUs, although i understand that there are many different technologies that each company offers. Technologies such as hypertransport, Physx, Cuda, and many others are exclusive to only one of the two companies. My questions are, what technologies does each company use, which technologies are used and supported in most video games today, and which technologies seem to be better. I know there is a lot here and i would appreciate any answers to any of the question.

As of right now, AMD GPUs have no exclusive technologies, its only NVidia cards with CUDA and PhysX. Hypertrasport is AMD version of a front side bus, nothing too special.

Open CL, and Directcompute, available on BOTH cards, should be the future. If a developer has to choose between an a tech that works for both cards vs a tech that works for just one....
