Simple Question about AMD CPU and Motherboard Compatibility

I would like my first foray into AMD products to free of problems.
I don't know how rigid the ECS CPU QVL is, so please confirm my suspicions that either of the processors listed below will work in the given ECS motherboard even though neither is specifically listed in the QVL.

A880GM-M7Motherboard

I'd prefer to get the 840. My only concern is that the exact P/N is not identical:
ECS lists HDX840WFK42GM
But the CPU for sale is listed HDX840WFGMBOX

Alternatively, I could take the Sempron 145, but the ECS QVL only shows the 140 & 150.

Just making sure, so thanks in advance for your help. I will give a Best Answer.

Your board only supports cpu's with a 95W TDP.
Amd makes 95W and 125W+ versions of the same cpu in some models.
The cpu you linked should be fine imo it's a 95W version.
Some versions listed in the support lists may have different model # = oem tray versions or earlier retail versions.

As always, Davcon. Thanks for your experience, and time.

I'll pick up the 840 next week. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will unlock successfully. :)
