I'm choosing a display size between 22 inch and 24 inch.

Is 24 inch monitor's text size too small at native 1920*1080 resolution? Some suggest tuning down the resolution (which would cause fuzzy text) or increasing the dpi (but many other softwares' gui would be a mess). So do you find 24 inch monitor's text size too small at about 2.5 feet?

Thanks!

Figure PC monitors were originally designed for viewing at 96DPI so for 1920x1080 the ideal size to get it the way it was programmed to be seen would be a 20x11.25" monitor - which would be approx. a 23" vertical display ( using the old a^2 + b^2 = c^2 20^2 + 12.5^2 = 526.56 or approx 23 (23^2 = 529).

So a 24" display will actually be a bit larger text than it was designed to be displayed at but should be fairly close to what 1920x1080 was designed for (figure 22 - 24" displays are within reason) -- once you get to 25-27"+ displays then you would be a pretty fuzzy display of that resolution but 24" should be acceptable.

Best thing to do would be go to a local store and check several monitors yourself to see what best suits you (since everyone is going to have a different opinion ) since it will really depend on what you are comfortable with and how your eyesight is will make a difference as well.

Its really not an issue, there are several options for resizing text one of which will work for you.
For me the issue would be the pixel size a 22" screen would have smaller pixels and so would allow you to sit closer before you noticed the pixels
