Change default desktop color

How can I change the default wallpaper/desktop color that
is displayed when logging in (using classic login on a
domain). I was able to remove the OEM wallpaper (HP) by
simply deleting the image files, but I would like to
change the default background color. I also tried to copy
my profile (including the user.dat files) to the "Default
User" profile, but that didn't work either.

Please advise,
Thanks,
Matt Stanzel

Hi Matt,

To change the desktop color, right click on the desktop and select properties. Flip to the desktop
tab and choose the color that you wish under 'color'

If you're referring to the Wallpaper/Background color at the Classic Logon screen (before logging in) by chance, you need to set the Wallpaper to a blank string and set the Background to your preferred color in HEX values.

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors
Value named "Background"

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop
Value named "Wallpaper". Set it to a blank string (Or, it also takes HEX values for the background)

Thanks Ramesh, you fixed my problem. The other 2 jokers
who responded obviously had no idea what I was talking
about.

Thanks again,
Matt Stanzel

They were only trying to help. I don't think calling them "jokers" was
necessary.

You're most welcome Matt, and glad to be of assistance!. On a side-note, please understand that the other two posters were also trying to help you out.
