Pc says no graphic card

Hello,
I wanted to play sims 3 on my pc that was broken for a while. now i installed it but it said it could not find video graphics card. i checked via run -> dxdiag and it says i dont have a graphic card?

This may sound silly, but did you plug the monitor cable into the graphics card connector and NOT the onboard graphics connector?
