Dual channel - Triple Channel

i have the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard and it supports dual channel memory what does that mean and also i wanted to get new memory and was thinking anout the G.SKILL Sniper Gaming Series 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-12GBSR but their a triple channel kit is it still Compatible

Those memory will be compatible. Just insert the memory in sequence, in first 3 slot: Slot 1, 2 and 3. You should be fine.

Why don't you get the G.Skill Sniper Gaming series dual channel? You don't need 12gb and you will never use anywhere near that amount for gaming. An 8 gb set would be more than enough. The triple channel may be compatable but you will not have the triple channel effect because it will be running as dual channel , you need a triploe channel motherboard to take advantage of triple cjannel memory.
