Should I Wait For "Bulldozer"

just buy the 2500k. Nothing beats it for gaming and it overclocks effortlessly to 4ghz+. I don't expect bulldozer to be great for gaming, but if your not in a hurry it should be released 12 October i think.....unless they delay it again....

heres some official benchmark apparentlly http://lenzfire.com/2011/09/amd-bulldozer-fx-81x0-official-benchmarks-vs-intel-core-i7-980x-i5-2500-2500/

Absolutely right . The cost of a processor is directly related to its surface area . AMD's phenom quads are MUCH larger than the dual core i3 and they sell them profitably ..........for less

The only conclusion is : INTEL CHARGE TOO MUCH

I agree, whilst Intel's processors are more expensive they give more performance than their AMD counter parts.

i7 2600K is ranked at 7 compared to AMD's Phenom II x6 1100T at rank 53. I'd always go with the i7.

Here this is from http://lenzfire.com/2011/09/amd-bulldozer-fx-81x0-official-benchmarks-vs-intel-core-i7-980x-i5-2500-2500/ as iam2thecrowe posted.

"AMD has compared Bulldozer benchmarks with Intel Core i7 980X extreme edition and Core i5 2500/2400. So Bulldozer is not meant to compete with neither Core i7 second generation Sandy Bridge processors nor the upcoming Sandy Bridge-E processors"

Those are the intro model Bulldozer models designed to compete at specific price points matching Intel CPUs. There will be faster versions available plus if they OC as claimed up to 5 Ghz. on good air-cooling they could be the best value of the decade with the pricing that is being touted.

Be careful with bogus benches that favor Intel CPUs even when AMD CPUs outperform Intel is real world applications. There is a place for both brands and AMD tends to always be the performance/value proposition even when they have the CPU performance lead.

So you haven't seen any real independent benchmarks [ just like everyone else ] but its your opinion that intel are awesome and everyone should buy one .
Thanks for that well reasoned opinion

I didn't say that Intel are awesome and that everyone should buy one. What I said was that given the previous performance of Intel and AMD it can be reasonable to presume that the 2600K will out perform Bulldozer. I'll accept that I didn't provide independent benchmarks or comparisons or give 'equal' comparisons.

When you say " previous performance" are you talking about those years where the Athlon 64 completely dominated anything Intel was able to build ?

Or the time when intel made processors that couldnt actually COUNT ?
