Is 1333mhz ram too slow?

I'm upgrading my motherboard in a couple of weeks, but in the mean time, I'm going to be getting new RAM. I need to get RAM that will be supported by my old motherboard and my new one, so I'm basically stuck with 1333mhz. Should I buy that speed or should I wait to get a faster speed that will be supported only by my new mobo? This 1333mhz will be for 2x8 GB RAM sticks.

More about 1333mhz slow
  1. If you're a gamer, you won't notice a lick of difference between 1333MHZ and 1600MHZ in real life. Besides, a lot depends on what CPU/Motherboard combination you are going to get.
  2. Won't make a difference unless you've got an APU.

ram speed limited by motherboard, Ram rather rated as UP TO, so faster ram will work in slower motherboard just at lower speed

    Motherboard supports max 1333mhz ram
if you install 1600mhz module in that motherboard
it will down-cloak and run fine at 1333mhz speed

Performance boost is negligible and unnoticeable in real life use between DDR 3 types

Good point. I forgot about the Llano and Trinity APUs. They rely on the system RAM for their graphic cababilities.
