Booting off ssd

Hello,
I have just done a fresh install of windows 7 on my SSD (40gb), however i only want it to boot off the ssd and i want to use my 1tb hdd for all my programs, any ideas how i can make this happen as currently its still booting off the hdd and even when i change it via bios to boot off the ssd it doesnt bring up the hdd desktop? help

(1) this does get you booted off the SSD ? good.
(2) did you copy your previous install from the HDD to the SSD? No? Then use WIN7's migration tool to move the desktop, etc. from the old windows install to the new one.
