Robem with cpu selection?

i am bilding a budget pc...just for gaming
i have two options
1)amd phenom X4 965 and hd 6670
2)amd phenom X2 550 and hd6770
i run games at 1366X768 resolution

The best is Phenom II x4 + 6770. At that resolution go with Phenom x2 +6770.

depends. rest of your specs are important too.
typically, phenom ii x4 with 6770 is the safer route to take - with a 4 core cpu and a good gfx card.
if the ph ii is a lot cheaper than the 965, you can get the ph ii with a good cooler like xigmatech gaia or coolermaster hyper and take chance with core unlocking and overclocking. your motherboard and psu, case have to be able to support overclocking otherwise you could damage your system.

If you haven't got a mobo already, may be a llano build. A8-3850 and 6550D hybrid cf with 6670 for a 6690D2.
