Nvidia GTX 560 Ti vs. GTX 560 for Battlefield 3

Hello, Im looking to upgrade my PC for Battlefield 3. According to PC Gamer.com the recommended system specs are

Hard Drive Space: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPURAM 4GB
Video Card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, GeForce GTX 460, Radeon Radeon HD 6850

My pc matches or surpasses all these specs with the exception of GPU. Now they recommended a GeForce GTX 460 so no doubt a 560 Ti will work fine. What I'm wondering is if the GTX 560 (not ti) will be able to match the 560 ti for performance in this game.
Im looking for medium to high settings. ( My PSU should be able to handle either card)

  1. The non-ti version will put you better than half way to the 560 ti version from a performance standpoint and give you a 15-30% increase over a 460. Not bad. Though if you can, the 560 ti will consistently give you better performance than your 6850 and then some. This review sums it up pretty well:

  2. welcome to the forums newcomer!

we need to know the entire specs of your system, all the way down to the PSU. Can't have you pointing a finger at by saying that we suggested a power GPU that was too much for your flimsy PSU. Thus the pissing away of a perfectly working system :)

    actually the GTX 560Ti is higher than the 560 by only one tier;

like i said, we need to know the entire system specs, we can hopefully work from there :D
  3. Overclocking the 560 will get you above 560 Ti stock performance, so the plain 560 should be sufficient to meet your goals if you overclock it. They are known to overclock like crazy, often above 1 ghz.
  4. Get the GTX560Ti, non-Ti is a waste, it's worse, more power-drawing and more expensive than HD6870
  5. Hi,

    I run Battlefield 3 on Phenom II 965BE, GTX560Ti (stock 830MHz), 4GB G.Skills CL8 1333.
It runs in Ultra details 1680 x 1050 at 35-55 FPS however sometimes can "catch" the frame, perhaps its because loading stuff from hard drive (?)
  6. MSI GTX56ti 448core rocks-65 to 120 FPS Battlefield 3

Isn't the 448-cores essentially just a 570? Also, I believe you can only buy them online.
  8. im getting an average 55 to 76 fps with my gtx 560 none ti,,i know its fast as hell and thats at stock 822ghz speed it goes to 980 no problem but i dont need to, the lowest i see on 64 player lots of action maps is 48fps .
