After about a year and a half I'm pretty sure one of my ram sticks died because when i stream video and play games at the same time I stutter like crazy. But yeah I need some new ram and i was wondering if frequency maters when it comes to performance? i plan on getting 8 gigs of ddr3 1330 frequency and was wondering if that would bottle neck me in gaming should I gow ith 1600 frquency instead? thanks.

RAM doesn't affect gaming performance really. That's more of the graphics card side. But either way, 1333MHz is good. I suggest Corsair Vengeance, G. Skill Ripjaw X Series, or G. Skill Sniper Series.

I would go with the 1600mhz ram , you won't see very much difference but what there is will be is if you go with 1600mhz. Prices are droping right now and last month this set was $48.99.

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

You can even consider 1866mhz ram.

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9R
$48.99

You could let us know your motherboard and cpu and we can see what will work with what you have.

Well you need to do a research on ram , basically you have to avoid compatibility issue .

1] check whether you mobo supports 1600 ram ?
2] voltage of ram [ some have 1.5 v some have 1.65 volt ]
3] is it dual channel or what ,
4] go to motherboard official page and check the compatibility of ram with mobo.
send an email to ram manufacturer and ask them about compatibility issue [ i have sent one , waiting for reply ]

ask more specific question and mention everything .
remember you have to avoid compatibility issues , if you dont your pc will hand , will give you constant reboots and so on
