I know a good thing to do after building a new pc is to test it with various software to make sure everything is running smoothly and efficiently also to test if overclocks are stable. Though I'm new to this so what software would I need for all this? Thanks for any help.

Memtest86+ run from a floppy, CD of flash drive to check the RAM. OCCT, Prime 95 and Linpack for stress testing the entire PC. Use the same software for OC stability testing. All of this is free online. Just search for the latest versions.

Also things like MSI Afterburner (for your graphcis card monitoring), MSI Kombuster or a video game (to test stability of graphics card overclock), Realtemp/Hardware Monitor(for checking CPU temps). Intel Burn Test is a good substitute for Linpack/Prime 95 if you have an Intel CPU.
