Knowing what your budget is will help, and also whether you intend to overclock or not. I do extensive video editing myself and I have an i7-2600K overclocked to 4 GHz and it does very nicely. I can record into the H.264 format at 1024x768 at 60 fps smoothly without dropped or inserted frames even at clock speeds with complex scenes (like a rainy level). If budget is low, the i5-2500K is also nice.
