I am looking to buy a small digital camera for travel and the recent
price drop on S500 caught my eye. Looking at the spec, it seems that
S500 can be operated from a PC through USB, and that the PC can disply
live viewfinder video. My question is, can the live video somehow be
used by another application such as Netmeeting or MSN Messenger?

Specs for S500 in video include only 10 frames per second, and low res.
Regardless of your hookup, that really isn't good video. Check out the
newest Canon 4MP and 5MP Elphs, as they do 30 frames/second.

Actually, I was asking if the S500 can be turned into a webcam since it does
seem to feed live video to the PC. I am only interested in 320x240 or
640x480 at a few frames per second for video. Anything higher will cause
problem with the limited DSL bandwidth.
