Recommended ATX AM3+ MOBO and CPU for gaming?

I'm currently working on a build and I'm rather curious as to what good MOBO/CPU combos are hot right now for "gaming". I don't plan to run SLI or CrossFireX, but I would like a motherboard with CrossFireX capability just in case, since I'm packing a 6950 graphics card.

I would prefer an ATX sized MOBO, and of course an AM3 CPU.

$300 to $375 is is a comfortable price range for me, as a total.

Thanks, looking forward to the input.

  1. Why not an i5-2500k system? It outperforms everything that amd offers for gaming.

They go for around 220 I believe, and I can more or less get something close to it from AMD for a cheaper price.

If I had the money, I definitely would. Thank you for the reply.
