Upgrading CPU

I have an intel i5 650 3.2 ghz and I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to an intel i5 2500k?

My current processor is ok... it drops to 27-30 fps on large destruction maps in bf3 from 50-60 fps and I was wondering if I had an overclocked 2500k (4.4ghz maybe) these drops would go away.

By the way i cant overclock my current processor as it is an OEM one and stuff

you need to get a motherboard that is lga 1155, the I5-650 is lga 1156.

thanks for the reply but that unfortunately does not answer the question i was asking. Is it worth it to upgrade and will the drops in bf3 go away

omg sorry I read it wrong, what is your gpu and total budget?

well no need to upgrade now
and try cputweaker and cpufsb (softwares) to see if you can overclock your system or not

gtx 560 ti and i am looking at an intel i5 2500k, is it worth to upgrade to from intel i5 650 3.2 ghz.

When you're running at high settings, any quad core cpu is more than enough and is not a bottleneck for any game. Hell, even a triple core should do the job really, put your money towards a new graphics card, or even better, an OCZ synapse cache ssd.
